Detroit: Alcohol sales flowing on Christmas Day
Montag 27. Dezember 2010 von htm
‚Tis the season to be — drinking.
Stores and restaurants open today enjoyed something they had were not allowed to have on previous Christmas Days: alcohol sales.
Earlier this year, state legislators passed a law that permitted the sale of alcohol on Christmas Day after noon. Previously, sales were banned beginning at 9 p.m. on Dec. 24 through 7 a.m. Dec. 26.
Though most businesses were shuttered on the holiday, those that chose to open — the occasional liquor store and several Chinese restaurants — were selling wine, liquor and beer. „It’s been steady the whole time,“ said Savio Yaldo, a 20-year-old sales associate behind the counter. Since opening at noon, customers came. The most popular items? Champagne, hard liquor and beer, he said. (Source: Google Alcohol News, 12/25/10) The Detroit News, 12/25/10
