US Students Tend To Booze More When Abroad

Mittwoch 13. Oktober 2010 von htm

When American students go abroad they have the opportunity to experience a new culture, learn a foreign language, and in many cases end up consuming much more alcohol, researchers from the University of Washington reveal in a report published in the medical journal Psychology of Addictive Behaviors. Some people wonder whether the increased drinking is just due to the excitement of travel – most tourists tend to behave in a more daring way when away from home – or are other factors at play? Could it be simply that in a large part of the world the minimum drinking age is 18, rather than 21? A 19-year-old student from the USA will not be refused service from a pub in England or a bar in Paris or Rome. (Source: Medical News Today, 10/12/10)
