Kentucky and Arkansas have joined New York and California in the latest push by state legislators to increase alcohol taxes as a way to address budgetary shortfalls, the Wall Street Journal reported Jan. 17.
Peter Cressy, chief executive of the trade group Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, said that about 10 states are seeking tax increases, with the possibility of 30 more following suit by the end of the year. (Source: Join Together, 1/21/09) Deutsche Webseite: Strukturelle Prävention
