The first is an international conference in Abuja, Nigeria on Alcohol, Drugs and HIV/AIDS in Africa from 11th to 12th August 2010. It is organized by CRISA, the African Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse (CRISA). The conference will focus on the role of alcohol and other drug use in the HIV/AIDS epidemics in different African societies. For more information
The second conference is a Kettil Bruun Society (KBS) thematic meeting on alcohol epidemiology and policy. KBS is an international organization of scientists engaged in research on the social and health aspects of alcohol use and alcohol problems. The meeting will take place from 15th to 18th November 2010 in Kampala, Uganda. This will be the first ever KBS meeting in Africa. For more information

The Club Health Conference addresses national and international experts from the harm reduction, prevention and health promotion domains and provides a unique opportunity to exchange the latest scientific knowledge, political efforts, project proposals and experiences.
The focus of the conference lies on preventative and harm reducing measures which make nightlife safer and more attractive as well as promoting partygoers’ health.
The conference is geared towards those working in: Public health, substance use, sexual health, violence prevention, policing and criminal justice, tourism, nightlife industries, transport, environmental health, general practice and therapy.
The Conference begins with a “Swiss satellite” opening session.

More Town Hall Meetings Than Ever Being Held Across America To Address The Dangers Of Underage Drinking
In recognition of Alcohol Awareness Month in April, communities throughout the nation are conducting town hall meetings to discuss what can be done to prevent and reduce underage drinking. This year more than 1,700 community-based organizations will conduct town hall meetings across the country up from 1,500 in 2008, the last time this national event took place.
