California Proposes Raising Alcohol Taxes
Mittwoch 9. Juni 2010 von htm
In a move long overdue, California’s Senate Democrats have proposed legislation to increase the state’s alcohol taxes to help close the $19 billion budget deficit. The proposal would raise $4.9 billion in taxes and other revenues, including $210 million from alcohol taxes. While this increase would add less than 2 cents to the cost of a beer, it would go a long way toward preserving critical programs. The last time California increased its alcohol tax was 1991.
